hydrolyzed collagen, blood, forged steel, 3ft x2ft x2ft

The rib cage reminds us of the biblical passage of how Eve was created from Adam’s ribs, symbolically establishing a hierarchy between genders with significant social and historical implications. In Dukiewicz version, this fossil is a witness of time and testimony of patriarchal collapse. Atop the metallic skeletal structure, an amorphous, organic form hovers as though suspended. Composed of hydrolyzed collagen infused with the artist’s blood, the form glistens subtly in the light, evoking the unsettling presence of exposed flesh.  (by Andrea Valencia Aranda)
